Setting a Watch List for a POI

Setting a Watch List for a POI

Setting a watch list for a POI allows you to be notified if another business in your area encounters a POI that is known to your system, providing that business is within the watch radius that you set for the POI. Of course, the other business must also be using SOVA to allow this 2-way communication between your property and theirs.

  • Navigate to Persons of Interest > List POI. Next, click the toggle in the "Watch List" column to set it to "ON"

  • Click the small, circle tool located at the arrow in the screen below to activate the circle drawing tool. Next, click on the map and while holding the mouse button down, drag in any direction to create a circle. Release when satisfied with the approximate size of the watch radius. NOTE: Getting the position or size of the circle exactly right when initially drawing it is not necessary as you will be able to adjust both the position of the circle and size prior to saving:

TIP: To re-position the circle, click and drag it to it's new position and release. To resize the circle, click on one of the 4 small dots at the perimeter of the circle and drag outward to increase the size, or inward to decrease the size.

  • Save your changes. NOTE: you cannot resize the watch radius or reposition it after saving. To start over, from the POI listview simply turn the "Watch List" toggle to OFF and then turn it back to ON and you will b prompted to set a new watch radius.
  • Next, navigate to Settings > Communication and add recipients that you want to be notified if a POI is encountered at any partner business that is located within your watch radius. On the communication screen, click the tab named "POI Proximity" and add your names there. When saving the names you've added, the system will send verification emails and SMS messages to the recipients, and they will need to verify their method of communication before they can receive any alerts. If you need help setting up your recipients for POI proximity notifications, or any other notification, please read the article on adding names to the communication screen.
